I was part of a group of six people chosen to represent the University of South Australia in the eleventh Pingyao International Photography (PIP) Festival. Myself, and three fellow artists and friends, were fortunate enough to receive a Project and Development Grant from the Helpmann Academy to attend this festival. (Along with a lot of fundraising, hard work and support from many, many people!) During the festival I lead discussions about my own work; which was on exhibit during the festival, and the work of my peers to the public. I took part in discussions with other artists, staff and students from universities the world over, and heard some amazing lectures from guest speakers that have changed my view of what it means to be an artist; stuff that will stick with me for life. It was truly a unique and incredible experience.
